“The Beginning”
The club was found by Mick Moles in 1974, he was the first club secretary.
The first president of the club was Ross Kelly. Mick Moles played for Campbelltown Baptist church, which affiliated with Macquarie Fields Baptist church. The team was known as Macquarie Fields United Soccer and played in the Protestant Churches Soccer Football Association.
The familiar black and gold colors did not come from any serious form of discussion; they came from “special rack” at “K” mart.
| In 1976 Denis Willingham, an A/A player ran a competition for the club, where the players had to come up with a club logo. The name “The Flyers” was chosen and he then designed the soccer ball with wings. |
| In 1977 Karen Moles was the first girl to register in the U/8 team; she was only 6 years old at the time. |
| In 1978 Milton Park was MFUSC home ground. A caravan was towed to Milton Park .It was used as the Canteen every Saturday. The caravan was donated by Frank Kopinya. The BBQ consisted of steel plate on a brick. The canteen was run by Bev Coates and Julie Thompson. |
| In November 1980 The Constitution was adapted. |
| In 1981 MFUSC joined the Southern District Soccer Football Association. AGM was held at Glenwood Public School. New canteen was built at Milton by voluntary labor. Peter Hope was the brick layer. Terry Lowe designed the first newsletter. He also did all the sign writing for the sponsor signs. |
| In 1986 Macquarie Fields United Soccer club was changed to Macquarie Fields United Sports Club. Gary Stanshall was accepted as the club’s first Life Member. |
| In 1987 Discussion was under way to amalgamate with Campbelltown District Soccer Club (Gunners). Campbelltown council recommended a change to club’s name. Denise Moon and Haidee Daniels were accepted as Life Members. |
| In 1988 Club’ name was changed from Macquarie Fields United Sports Club to Fields United Sports Club. Moved to Blinman Park. Tent was erected for canteen at every home game by Bob and Haidee Daniel. Letter was written to Campbelltown City Council for permission to construct a front and back wall in the breezeway. Also a concrete slab and awning in front of the canteen. September – the new canteen was opened. First junior presentation was held at Blinman Park on 11th September. The club’s first 10 year players – David Coates and Stuart Manray. Ron Carey prepared the first Fields United Sports Club constitution. |
| In 1989, 10 year players – Matthew Stanshall, Adam Stanshall and Robert Callaghan. |
| In 1990 Fields United Sports Club (FUSC) amalgamated with Gunners to become Fields United Gunners Sports Club. (FUGSC).By the October, FUSC discontinued association with FUGSC. By December FUSC reserved the name with consumer affairs. |
| In 1991, Beverly Coates accepted as Life Member. |
| In 1992 Terry Coates accepted as Life Member. |
| In 1993 Concrete slabs were poured for seats and table, supplied by Campbelltown Council. |
| In 1995: Shane Barton became 10 year player. Children’s Disco was held at Macquarie Fields Indoor Centre .Winners of the Ron Dine – U/9, A/A Div3. |
| In 1996, First Christmas in July was held at Blinman Oval. Premier teams – A/A & U/12 Div 2. First ladies team was formed by Mary Perry and coached by Christine Peterson. |
| In 1997. U/13 Div 1 Premiers played in Champion of Champions competition. Were defeated one –nil. |
| In 1998 Under 14 Div 2 undefeated Premiership and won Ron Dine. Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary, at Eschol Park House. All the life members attended except Dennis Moon. |
| In 1999. Fields United Soccer Club became incorporated. |
| In 2000 Under 9 Div 2 won Premiership and Ron Dine. Trevor Morgan 10 year coach |
| In 2002 Christine Peterson and Clive Currie accepted as Life member. |
| In 2003, Fields United Soccer Club received a trophy from Macarthur Referee Association for being the “Most Fairest and Sporting Club”. |
| In 2004 The club celebrated its 30th Anniversary. |
| In 2005 Bruce Whiddon and Mary Perry accepted as Life members. |
| In 2008 Brian Young and Michael Kishore accepted as Life members. |
| In 2009 The Executive Committee was instrumental in obtaining a grant from the NSW government for improvements to Grounds and Council has used some of the money to refurbish the car park and area around clubhouse. |
